Mojo Monday #260

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve participated in any challenges and I’ve really missed it. I didn’t feel like folding laundry this afternoon, so I got crafty instead!

I cut the flowers and decorative square with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge from Close To My Heart. I used Chocolate cardstock and the Avonlea paper pack as well as our fabulous new burlap ribbon. A few Sparkles and a Bling Gem finish off this quick and easy card. The sentiment is from last year’s convention stamp set, Dreams. Ink colors are Chocolate and Juniper.

See you tomorrow with another creation from this afternoon. Now I need to go fold that laundry……

Mailbox ~ Day 30

Welcome to all of you arriving here from Adeline’s blog. If you came from somewhere else…no worries! Just keep hopping from link to link until you end up where you began.

Today’s shape is this adorable mailbox.

This one is found on page 51 of the Artiste handbook. I cut mine from the Avonlea paper and chocolate cardstock. The butterfly is cut from Juniper and the exclusive Avonlea Teal cardstock that is only available in the Avonlea paper pack, and attached with an Adhesive spring. I added some Sparkles to the butterfly and lightly brushed on some Create a Shade Pearl Paint, I love the shimmer that this paint adds! The bow is made from Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon colored with the new Slate ink. You’ll always have just the right color ribbon with this awesome product. I attached my flag with a slate brad instead of gluing it on so that it can actually go up and down.

This is another project that looks like you spent tons of time creating, but it really only takes a few minutes…….Shhhh! I won’t tell anyone how easy it is if you don’t……

Now go see what Amy has done at Paisley’s Playhouse.

Happy Crafting!

Artiste in August ~ Day 15

Welcome to those of you coming from Adeline’s blog, and everyone else too! Just keep following the links and you should end up where you began.

Today’s project is a cute little purse found on page 41.

I chose to use the new Avonlea paper pack. I love the soft colors of these papers.

At convention this year, one of the Extravaganza teachers showed faux leather and I made a mental note to try the technique with some of these cute purses. I should have made a written note so that I could remember who to thank for the inspiration.

I cut the purse at the size recommended in the handbook and cut the “pocket” piece from chocolate cardstock. The faux leather tab is a 4” x 1/2” piece of chocolate c.s. with the corners rounded on one end.

Before beginning the process of creating the “leather”, I used the tick marks to fold the pocket and creased it good with my bone folder in an attempt to make it easier to fold after altering the c.s. This ended up being very helpful when it came time to fold and attach it to the purse.

To create the faux leather, lightly spray the card stock with water using the spray pen to soften the it. Then crumple it up into a tight ball. Straighten it out and allow it to dry….or do what I did and speed up the drying with a heat tool. Once dry, lightly sand the raised parts, then ink them with chocolate ink. I just lightly rubbed the c.s. across the ink pad. There you have your “leather”!

Next I re-folded the pocket and attached it to the purse and assembled the purse, adding the faux leather strap/tab and a velcro closure.

I tucked a little heart stamped with a sentiment from the Wonderful You stamp set (retired) into the pocket.

This little purse would make a great presentation for a small gift or gift card for someone special in your life…..wouldn’t you like to receive a gift like this?

Now it’s time to go see what Amy has today at Paisley’s Playhouse. See you tomorrow.

Happy Crafting!
